WV WOMEN WORK
West Virginia Women Work, a nineteen-year-old statewide nonprofit organization, that supports and advocates for the education, employment and economic equity for all women. We achieve this goal through a comprehensive program of recruitment, training, referrals, placements, networking, advocacy, retention activities and public workshops.

3 Active Training Sites
While the nonprofit’s headquarters is in Morgantown, there are presently three active skilled trades training sites (Step-Up for Women Construction) located in the state – North Central West Virginia (Morgantown), Kanawha Valley (Charleston) and Northern Panhandle (Wheeling). This program boasts an 80% job placement rate with new graduates earning a minimum of $3 more per hour than a traditional job. -
New Manufacturing Programs
WVWW has two new pilot training sites located in Huntington, WV and Bridgeport, WV. This site is the Step Up for Women Advanced Manufacturing Pre-Apprenticeship Program. Women in this program will learn about high tech (CNC) machining along with the resource classes offered at our construction training sites. -
Technical Assistance
West Virginia Women Work can also provide technical assistance including: EEO regulations; Sexual harassment training; and Recruitment and retention strategies. -
Growth
Since beginning in 2000, West Virginia Women Work has trained more than 1000 women. -
Quality Pre-Apprenticeship
West Virginia is the only pre-apprenticeship program in the state of West Virginia to be recognized under the U.S. Department of Labor Ten 13-12, Training and Employment Notice, as a quality pre-apprenticeship program.
